Concept
Making an East Asian temple-themed flower pot. I want to make something relevant to my lifestyle and likes. I like looking into traditional East-Asian art and the idea of having many plants at home.
I began listing down 2 important factors I need to consider:
1. What are the major characteristics of an East-Asian Temple?
Most have patterned windows, ribbed triangular roofs, and pillars. They are rectangular or hexagonal. Made from wood, it is decorated with ceramics, paintings, and sculptures.
2. What are the major characteristics of a flower pot?
Various colours but mostly brown, grey, or white. They are cylindrical. They are made of ceramics.
I think it is important to note that flower pots need to be able to hold some water. If the plant inside is alive, the pots need an opening to let in sun and/or water.
However, I wanted the laser cutting material to be wood to make it seem more like the architecture. I went to Canadian Tire this week to get a wood finish.
I was jotting down a note to myself before heading to the thumbnails. The flower was going to have:
1. Wood material
2. Windows
3. A Roof
4. Lower part that is solid enough to hold some water.
I haven't decided if it's going to be rectangular, hexagonal, or cylindrical.
